Regina Rosarii Institute for Contemplation in Asia
Sister Eppie's Easter 2012 message PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 14 April 2012 09:04

Dear Regina Rosarii family and friends,

Happy Easter!  Alleluia, our Lord is risen! Jesus is alive! How about you? Are you alive?

Many times we walk through life as though we do not see, hear, smell, taste, touch. Jesus invites us all to be alive, to live a new way of living.  It is time to discover that suffering and pain is part of daily living. Discover Jesus and his message of love, every moment, every event, every now, and every present. It is a gift.

The real essence of living as you know is darkness and light. If there is no Good Friday, there would be no Easter Sunday. We are invited to experience a total acceptance of the now. It is only when we experience the absence that we can appreciate more the presence. It is also only when we experience failure that success will be sweet. Death and dying, life and living, tears and laughter, sorrow and joy, defeat and victory, sickness and health, poverty and luxury they are one. So be alive!  Taste and see how good our God is. See the beauty of the sunrise, feel the coolness of the dawn, hear the singing of the birds, smell the candles burning at the feet of our Lady at Regina RICA. At RICA you will experience all these blessings. Jesus is alive. You too can live life to the full.

Our Lady now stands on her own land, Mary’s land. We are so grateful to you who have helped build Regina RICA and buy RICA land for Mary, Regina Rosarii.  Please continue to be part of this great mission of making our Lady known and loved through all the earth. She waits for you on top of the hill. Will you come and visit?

Lovingly through our Lady Regina Rosarii,

Sister Eppie

Pahuwayan PDF Print E-mail

pahuwayanPahuwayan (an Ilonggo word for a resting place) is on Level 2 of the Chapel on the Hill, nestled in the mountainside and facing the statue of Our Lady Regina Rosarii.

Unique in its design and made to last many generations, our Pahuwayan commands a breathtaking view of nature with its trees and hills so close to us as we visit our loved ones. It is in the care of the Dominican Sisters of Regina Rosarii that the serenity and simplicity of the place is realized.

The Chapel of the Women Mystics

The Chapel of the Women Mystics, where daily Mass will be held, reminds us of Christ's Resurrection, the stronghold of the Catholic faith and a symbol of hope for us. St. Catherine of Siena and St. Teresa of Avila stand on both ends of our oval altar. They are women mystics who have been declared Doctors of the Church. The Altar area draws our thoughts to that first Easter morning where Mary Magdalene first preached the good news, “I have seen the Lord. He is truly risen!” At the entrance we are greeted by Martha and Mary, one busy and the other attentively listening. Opposite Martha and Mary sits the anchoress, St Julian of Norwich, who trustingly assures us that "All will be well!" A total of 13 statues of women mystics will surround Pahuwayan.
